A crowd gathers to prevent the memorial being moved from its position on the outskirts of JP Nagar. In what Abdul Jabar saw as a political coup the state government had allowed the statue to be move inside the factory walls. However, a group from JP Nagar, the slum that bore the worst of the disaster, insisted that the statue was theirs by right and a new one should be made for the factory site.
